Homework Assignments

End of first semester
  • First draft of Exploravision paper due at the end of class Monday 12/8/2017
  • Tuesday Oct. 31 Fun Halloween Science!
  • Monday October 23 (end of class) full final lab write-ups and visual aids for presentations (everything!)
  • Friday October 20 due conclusions and abstracts
  • Friday October 13 (may turn in on Wed. Oct 18) due data and results
  • Tuesday October 10 due entire lab report through the procedure (excluding the abstract)
  • Friday October 6 due introduction including internal citations and full references after the introduction.
  • Tuesday October 3 due procedure and materials including any materials that must be composed by the experimenters (such as written materials). Students may begin their experiments as soon as their procedures have been approved.
  • Friday Sept 29 due a stated hypothesis that contains an independent and dependent variable and the relationship between the two. Remember that your hypothesis must be written in a form that can be tested. This means that it cannot be too vague.
  • Thursday Sept 28 due 5 resources written in APA format. You should include under each reference a paragraph providing a summary of the content and a paragraph describing how will use this information in your lab report. Please have all papers printed (or written) and ready to hand in at the beginning of class.
  • Monday Sept 25 due on your individual experiments: chose a more specific topic, write the question that you are trying to answer (make sure it has some relevance incorporated) and list your partner (if you have one)
  • Individual experiments: 4 general topics of research due Wed Sept 20. The topics do not need to be specific enough to include experimental set-ups or hypotheses (yet). As a matter of fact, you are encouraged to just be researching right now to see if an idea that you would otherwise not have thought of comes to you. However, they can also not be so broad that they do not indicate anything about what you would really be studying. For example: "mechanical engineering or basketball." You could even have a couple of potential topics under these broader headings. The following are the three links that were discussed in the library.
  • Pure science vs. applied science debate. Assigned Wed Sept 6. Presentations will begin Monday Sept 11. All groups should be ready.
  • For September 5 and September 6 Tues-Wed: Look at the websites suggested below to learn about pure (or fundamental) vs. applied (or technology) science. Be ready to discuss what you have learned on Wed. September 6
  • For August 28, Monday Read the Bubble Lab and be ready to discuss it with a group that will be assigned on Monday
